​QCF Level 2 Award
Supporting Teaching & Learning


Overview
This is a qualification specifically designed for you to become a qualified Teaching Assistant at Level 2.  This qualification combines knowledge, understanding and practical experience in the classroom.
 
Course Content
There are five units to be achieved, one of which is an optional unit.
The Training Centre will carry out a DBS prior to starting the course and arrange uniform and your placement to start in September.  You will have support to apply for EMA if you are eligible.

 
Programme Delivery
  • Work based or Centre based Knowledge delivery
  • Tutorial Support
  • Designated named Tutor
  • 100% portfolio work
You will attend placement four days a week and the Training Centre one day a week for portfolio building.

Essential Skills

You will be given the opportunity to study towards either Essential Skills level 1 or 2 in Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy if you have not achieved the GCSE grades A – C.  These qualifications will be delivered in the Training Centre by our staff as part of your main Training Programme.

  • Communication & Professional Relationships with Children & Young People
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in Work with Children & Young People
  • Safeguard the Welfare of Children and Young People
 
Optional Unit
  • Support Children and Young People at meal or snack times

Depending on your age when you join the Training Centre, will decide what level qualification you start with and your individual progression route.
We provide you with polo shirts for you to wear in placement. You will also be able to apply for EMA
​( Education Maintenance Allowance) and a bus pass.
