Hen Felin Training was established in 2000 under the development name of Rhondda Special School Development & Training Centre. The Centre provided training through GEST funding for the BTEC Level 2 for Classroom Assistants to teaching assistants employed within R.C.T L.E.A.
The success of this contract opened doors with ACT Training based in Cardiff, who we are proud to be a sub centre for within R. C. T. Every year the Centre has gone from strength to strength offering the QCF for Teaching Assistants levels 2 & 3 as an Apprenticeship. The Upper Rhondda Comprehensive Schools have also worked with us to offer both level 2 & 3 for Teaching Assistants to Form 6 pupils, using local primary schools as placements for our candidates. We also the BTEC Level 1 Introduction to Vocational Training Since January 2017 Hen Felin Training has been part of the Upper Rhondda Post 16 provision for vocational training, which has enabled any pupil wishing to enter post 16 education, the opportunity to apply directly to our Centre, no longer needing a referral from their comprehensive school, unless they are pupils of Treorchy Comprehensive School and Tonyrefail Community School. We also have access to EMA funding for all candidates who are eligible. We feel this is an excellent opportunity for all young people within our community to access vocational training within R.C.T. |
